Welcome to the Swarthmore High School Class of 1975 50th Reunion GoFundMe Page
Greetings SHS ’75 Classmates,
As we, members of the reunion committee, put the finishing touches on the planning of activities for our 50th reunion weekend, We recognize that we are still very much in fundraising mode. Your original investment has paid for Saturday’s Class Dinner. The expenses incurred as the result of our other events are dependent upon the class raising additional funds. A number of you have already donated above the cost of Saturday’s Class Dinner and we thank you. Despite the generosity of these and other classmates, we have determined the necessity for creating a GoFundMe page to source these additional funds. Our target is $5,000.
Maybe you already paid for your Saturday night dinner, or even might have made that check out for more than the requested cost of Saturday’s evening. But if not, or if you might even be inclined to give more, perhaps you’re interested in at very least, paying "your share.” Or maybe more, less, or nothing at all — it’s all your call. Yes, really.
But wait, Who is really paying, especially if we don’t raise enough?
Gracious early donors have contributed $6,150 for our Friday community center event, enabling us to set our remaining $5,000 goal as less than half the cost of the entire 3 days of events (and again, exclusive of Saturday’s pre-paid dinner fees).
After the weekend when our fundraising will shut down, remaining expenses will then be covered by a small group of willing and able "Guarantors" from the class, who will happily absorb them among themselves, thus guaranteeing the weekend happens on time and as planned and advertised.
Really? Yes. However, please absolutely know that No one is trying to play "big-shot benefactor" here.
So, YOU are also invited to contribute.
In summary and for those who will join in to help out, We’ve opened this $5,000-target GoFundMe drive with suggested contribution levels of $100 per head, or even $200, but all and only if you're moved to do so. Anonymous giving is also welcomed.
And a complete accounting for all costs will be provided afterwards. If there are any funds left unspent, they will go towards future alumni activities, a donation to the Swarthmore-Rutledge Elementary School, or a TBD cause decided upon by the class.
And beginning with our promise of full transparency regarding the status and progress of our campaign, please see below for the “all-in” estimated weekend expenses, that roughly translates to:

The committee has put together a roster of events for reunion weekend that is sure to be entertaining, memorable, and exhausting (after all, we are celebrating a half century since graduation). A good time will be had by all!
A reminder of fun things we will be doing:
Friday, October 3rd
Happy Hour at the Broad Table Tavern (located at the Inn at Swarthmore, by the train station) 4:30 – 6:15P. Appetizers will be provided. Cash bar.
Friday Night Fest at Swarthmore Community Center (former Methodist Church next to Borough Hall /Library) 6:30 – 10:30P. A great venue for catching up with old friends and includes heavy Hors D’oeuvres, open bar and great conversation.
Late Night Sipping and Cheese Party – Peter Koelle’s Ev (Turkish for home) 324 Dartmouth Avenue - 10:30P - Closing. Carry on and over, to Pete’s swanky abode where his legendary after-hours hospitality will combine with classic tales and arcane facts about our “Once in a Blue Moon,” Class of ’75.
Saturday, Oct 4th
High School Tour - 10:30A - Noon. Take a stroll down Memory Lane at the former SHS Building and campus (directions available for some of you). Meet in front parking lot.
Lunch 12-2:00P at Ship Bottom Brewery. This is a “no host” event. Food and drink will be available for purchase. Follow the crowd after the HS tour.
“Towny’s” Highlight Tour of Swarthmore College - 2 - 4P. There will be a tour of favorite SHS venues at the college, by at least two alumni who were also our classmates. Meet at "the vent" in front of Clothier Hall.
Nap Time 4-5:30P
The Main Event - 6 – 10P. Our Class Dinner will be held at The Inn at Swarthmore. The highlight and formal wrap up to the big weekend. Your presence is formally requested. You won’t want to miss this one.
Sunday, October 5th
Brunch - 11A - 1P. Classmate Amie Richan is hosting brunch at her home at 4 College Avenue – which happens to be Putty’s old apartment!
Please join in as fits your wallet and spirit. Whatever you choose, this reunion is ours, and Friday is for ALL.
