Help Us Build a New Community Temple

Shri Meenatchi Amman (Hindu) Temple is a registered charity (Reg number 1156240). In 2011, the charity started running the temple in a community centre in High Wycombe every Friday on a makeshift basis. With the support of the local community, Shri Meenakshi Amman took up residence at The Gate House, Abercromby Avenue at High Wycombe in 2012, which is open to the public all year round. The temple hosts all major Hindu festivals throughout the year and is also inclusive of other faith celebrations such as Christmas.

Our temple has grown to become more than a spiritual centre—it is now a vital hub for cultural activities, supporting not only High Wycombe but also neighbouring communities, reaching over 300,000 people. We offer a range of activities that bring the essence of Hinduism to the UK, from yoga and Carnatic music classes to Bharatanatyam dance lessons and flute instruction. These activities not only promote healthy living but also preserve and share our rich cultural heritage with future generations.

But we’re not stopping there.

Our temple is also a centre for charitable work, providing much-needed support to those in developing countries like India and Sri Lanka, as well as helping the local community here in the UK. As the temple grows, so too does the need for a larger, more accommodating space—one that can host our expanding membership and offer even more opportunities to learn, celebrate, and connect.
