Help the community show up for Trish Columbo!
After 50 years of incarceration, Trish Columbo has the chance to be freed on March 26, 2026. Trish was 19 years old when a horrendous, tragic crime took place, resulting in the deaths of her parents and brother. Both Trish and her "boyfriend" were convicted of the murders. Trish's co-defendant was double her age and had been grooming and sexually assaulting her for years since she was a minor. In the past 50 years, we have learned about criminalization of survivors of domestic violence and sexual abuse.
She will be appearing before the Illinois Prisoner Review Board (PRB), who will decide if she will be released. We have an opportunity to support her release by appearing at her hearing that day, showing that the community believes that 50 years is more than enough.
Funds will be used for a bus to-and-from the hearing and food for the participants.
The pottery in the picture was created by Trish and her best friend, made out of toilet paper and paint. It is a piece of Kinstsugi from the Japanese art of repairing pottery with lacquer mixed with powdered gold, refined by fire. As Trish said. “The goal is not to hide a flaw but to let brokenness enhance its beauty and celebrate its uniqueness. We are these pottery pieces… Perfect in our individual design and purpose … We experienced a deep brokenness… We are shattered… Slowly… Painfully… we begin to find healing… each piece put back together until we are whole again…”
