Sometimes the strongest thing you can do is ask to be seen.
For three hours I sat with Natalia and Kurt in their living room in North Texas as they shared their lives with me. I had the opportunity to capture what their daily reality looks like caring for their twin daughters, Sofia and Olivia. Sofia is on a ventilator and has a trach, requiring constant attention and monitoring. Olivia is on a G-tube, and her care carries its own rhythms and responsibilities. Together, it is a level of 24/7 care that most people never fully see or understand. They are a mom and dad who rarely get a day off. They need help carrying the load.
They need us right now. People to physically show up. People to call. People to come sit with their girls, to spend time together, to be present so Natalia and Kurt can catch up on sleep and have space to breathe. They need community. They need to not feel alone. If you’re local and have the capacity, showing up physically means more than anything. Time, conversation, shared space, being part of the village around Natalia, Kurt, and the girls.
For those who aren’t nearby but still want to come alongside them, this fundraiser exists to support practical needs that create a little more breathing room in the day-to-day. Things that help make rest and support more possible. Your support—whether it’s time, presence, or a donation—means the world to this family.
