Show My Sister Some Love - Urgent Help Needed

Donation protected

It's hard to find a recent picture of my beautiful sister, JodiAnne. Partially because she's a very private person. Partially because her health has been declining and she just isn't about to have a camera put in her face. These are pictures of when my sister still felt good.

Those who know me know that my sister is my best friend, my twin flame. She is going to be absolutely furious that I'm doing this, but I don't see another choice, because I cannot help her like I wish I could personally. Those who know us also know that she suffered a back injury at her job a few years ago (bartending; she's been in food service her entire career), which has snowballed into major disability, depression and anxiety, a rare autoimmune disease and chronic, often excruciating pain. When I say excruciating, I mean far beyond what any normal human being can stand because my sister can handle Herculean pain and not ever complain (that's thanks to her former life and training as a New York State field hockey champion!). So, when she does make a peep about it, we know it's serious. There are many more details but I don't wish to embarrass her anymore than she already is or be maudlin about it.

That said, she is physically unable to work. She obviously cannot go back to the service industry because she can no longer perform physical labor. She cannot take a desk or cash register job because she cannot sit or stand for long periods without pain. She went through the harrowing process of filing for disability in the state of California and was denied twice. She has since moved in with our other sister and her family in North Carolina and has begun the process of filing yet again (anyone who thinks there are gazillions of people cheating the system have obviously never applied for it themselves - it's nearly impossible to get approved). In addition, the amount of doctor's appointments she requires would interfere with any job she COULD possibly get. Lastly, she is obviously at high risk of contracting COVID so she probably shouldn't be out in the work force anyway. (oh, I forgot to mention she's actually currently recovering from it, miraculously...but I'd like to not push our luck, ya know?). In the meantime, she has ZERO income...nothing to pay her car payments and subsequent insurance, nothing to pay for the medical insurance she desperately needs and nothing with which to contribute to household expenses. Oh, and she has an emotional support bunny to keep fed and healthy (they're fragile). She has run through her savings with the move across the country.

So, here we are. I am trying to help my sister -- who never asks for anything of anyone ever, who has always covered my butt when I needed it, who was the hardest worker I've ever met, who never took days off of work (even with a broken hand once!), who is emotionally struggling with accepting that she can no longer make her body do what she wants it to -- to stay afloat while she goes through filing for federal disability yet again (crossing our fingers that the third time is the charm). She probably needs significantly more than what I'm asking but this seemed like a good place to start. Friends, family and family of choice, you have been so very generous to me...I am asking if you would extend that love and generosity to the person I love the most in the world, if you are in a position to currently. I understand that many of us are struggling financially (myself included), so if you cannot donate, sharing this link would also be a huge help. I would be so grateful and I know (once she gets over being mad at me) that she will be, too. It would be a great relief to my whole family.

Thank you for listening and thank you in advance for your generosity. I hope everyone stays safe, sane, healthy and hopeful. ♥
