A few nights ago, my boyfriend and I went through the Burger King drive-thru for a quick bite. An older man took our order — you could tell he wasn’t too comfortable with the speaker system yet, but when we got to the window, he greeted us with the kindest smile. His name was Henry.
Henry made sure we had everything we needed, double-checking our order with care. It stood out to me because that kind of warmth is rare these days. But what broke my heart was what happened next — when we pulled up to the second window, we overheard younger employees complaining about him. They were frustrated that he wanted to be up front, and it was clear he wasn’t being treated with the same respect he gave everyone else.
Fast forward to another night — we went inside to pick up a DoorDash order, and there was Henry again. This time, he was up front, working his heart out. He was taking orders, preparing food, running between tasks — all by himself — while others stood around or disappeared. The manager eventually came back and spoke to him in a way that honestly made my stomach turn.
Here’s this older man, showing up every day, giving his best, being kind and respectful — and he’s treated like he doesn’t matter. It’s not right.
I don’t know Henry’s full story, but I do know he deserves to be seen, appreciated, and supported. Whether it’s for a warm meal, bills, transportation, or simply a reminder that kindness does come back around — I want Henry to feel the love he puts into the world.
Every dollar donated will go directly to Henry — a hardworking man just trying to make it through his days with dignity and kindness.
Let’s show him that good people still exist. Let’s remind him that he is seen.
We see you, Henry. And we appreciate you.
