SHOUT WSK (Worthing Soup Kitchen)

I’m a volunteer at SHOUT WSK (Worthing Soup Kitchen). It is a small charity run by volunteers. They do amazing work supporting homeless and vulnerable people in and around Worthing.

The charity founder, Khristina, has not had an income since October 2021 due to taking on a large project to renovate a cafe to be used as a base where it will be open to the public in the day (with a community fridge) and run as a business to generate income for the charity. In the evenings it will be used as community hub and an outreach base.

Khristina isn’t eligible for benefits due to her full time charity work as a volunteer and won’t be able to get an income until after the cafe is up and running. Her personal car is out of action and she can’t afford to repair it. The charity van is being used daily for donation collections and delivering to clients, so she doesn’t always have access to it and this is impacting the work she can do to support those in need.

Having another van will make such a difference to the charity and the work and services to help homeless and vulnerable people in and around Worthing.

I feel strongly about helping this cause as I don’t believe anyone should be homeless or unable to feed themselves in this day and age, and with the ‘cost of living crisis’, the need to access the services provided are going to increase.
