Going to Egypt to help the Sudanese Refugees
Tax deductible
Dear Family and Friends,
My daughter, Alaina and I are planning to travel to Egypt, March 1-10th on a mission trip with the Shoulders of Christ International Mission (with partnership from Parkland Baptist Church). While in Egypt, we will be working with Sudanese refugees to better their living situation and teach them skills and trades to aid in their advancement long term. A nurse friend and I will be teaching 50 Sudanese women nursing and health concepts. These concepts include hand hygiene, first aid, CPR, pregnancy and infant care, wound and burn care, as well as caring for the geriatric and bedbound population. We will also see and treat patients while staying in Egypt under the care and direction of Dr. Salam.
My daughter, Alaina (17) will be part of a school re-build project, in which she will work to clean, paint, and maintenance a building of 16+ classrooms and 4 bathrooms so school can be held there for refugee children ages 5-12 years old.
There will be other outreach programs we are participating in also including: feeding and medically treating the homeless, teaching female/menstrual care, providing hygiene products, teaching hair and skin care, aiding in trauma and PTSP therapy, providing first aid supplies, stethoscopes, and blood pressure cuffs to the healthcare workers in the area, and teaching young men to install toilets, ceiling fans, etc. via a Handyman Apprenticeship Program our team will be also be teaching.
The Cairo Educational Center can provide us the space to work in, however they have no funding for these programs. This is where we need your help! We plan to use 100% of the funds raised for mission supplies and project costs. (Alaina and I will be covering all of our own travel expenses) so 100% of donations will go directly to The Shoulders of Christ for the betterment of the Sudanese Refugees. All donations are also tax deductible.
Any amount of donation is greatly appreciate, as it takes very little to do great things in Egypt. However, if you cannot donate, we understand completely and we ask to be supported in your prayers, please. We know the awesome power of prayer, so lifting us in your prayers is an amazing gift also.....and we thank you!
God is moving in the hearts and lives of those dedicated to this mission and we thank you for taking time out of your day to read this.
We thank you so much for all your prayers and support. May all the glory be given to God as we work to better the lives of so many less fortunate than us.
Sincerely,
Donna Beld, RN and Alaina DeVore
