Hi there,
Shoreham Rowing Club is more than just a sports club, it's a community. Together on 13th to 14th of September 2025 we are going to row for 24 hours to raise money for both our club and the charity, The Brain Tumour Charity.
The whole club will take part. Members will be rowing for at least half an hour each, taking turns over the 24-hour period - 10am Saturday to 10am Sunday - on two rowing machines that will always be moving.
Why?
At SRC, The Brain Tumour Charity is a charity close to all our hearts. Ten years ago, we lost a much-loved club member to this disease at a very young age, and other members of our close-knit community have also lost close family and friends. We want to do what we can to help fund the research and support that this charity provides.
We will be splitting the money raised by this fundraiser evenly between The Brain Tumour Charity and our club. Shoreham Rowing Club is very much a community sports club. We have over 100 members from across West Sussex and a thriving, successful junior section.
Our club is growing each year and it’s great to see so many new members joining, getting fit and enjoying an active lifestyle. However, this puts pressure on our limited equipment, and we now need to look at expanding our fleet of boats to ensure everyone, from our youngest juniors to our senior racing squad, get quality time on the water.
With so much demand for use, our current boats are also getting overused and worn out, exacerbating the problem. To help combat this, we our hoping to buy raise enough money to help fund the purchase of a new coastal boat -- a coastal coxed four. This will allow more people to enjoy their rows, get out more often on the water, and continue their development in the sport.
Any donations to both of these wonderful causes will be very gratefully received and appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. If you'd like to support us in a practical way we'd love to see you at the club on the day - either to jump on an erg and add some metres to our challenge, or simply to say hello and give us a cheer.
Thank you
