Join Us in Making a Difference – Support Shop and Donate's New Location in Victoria, London.

My name is Danny Barnes, I'm CEO for Shop and Donate, a social supermarket, that I started during the Covid-19 pandemic, to help get vital food supplies to those in isolation. Since then Shop & Donate has continued to be a lifeline for countless families and individuals in our community. Due to the continued growing demand for our services, I am excited to share that we are planning to open a second location in the heart of Victoria, London.

We have already received a grant from Westminster Council but in order to make this new location a reality, we need to raise a further £30,000, and we are reaching out to the wider community for your support. Your contribution would go a long way in helping us establish this much-needed outlet, allowing us to continue serve more people in Victoria and beyond.

A bit about us, and the new shop:

Shop and Donate operates with a unique and impactful mission: every purchase made by our customers directly supports food banks, low-income families, individuals still affected by Covid-19, and those who are homebound. As the cost of living continues to rise and more families face financial challenges, the need for our services has never been greater.

As well as the social supermarket the new location will serve as a vibrant community center with multiple functions. Here’s a breakdown of what we hope to achieve and what each component could include:

Community and Social Supermarket:

Purpose: Providing affordable groceries and essential items to the community, particularly targeting those in need.

Features:

• Low-Cost Products: Offering a variety of staple foods and household items at reduced prices.

• Discounted Goods: Focus on items that are close to their sell-by date or have been donated, reducing food waste.

• Volunteer Opportunities: Engaging the community in the operation of the supermarket, providing work experience, and building connections.

• Support Services: Information and access to resources like financial advice, cooking classes, and healthy eating workshops.

Community Hub:

Purpose: A central gathering place for local residents to Connect, participate in events, and access services.

Features:

• Event Spaces: Rooms and community co-working hot desk space for meetings, workshops, and social events.

• Information Center: A place where people can get information about local services, resources, and upcoming events.

• Multipurpose Rooms: Flexible spaces for activities such as classes, support groups, or leisure activities.

Community Café:

Purpose: A welcoming space where people can relax, enjoy food and drinks, and engage in conversations.

Features:

• Affordable Menu: Offering a range of healthy, budget-friendly options, with possible emphasis on local and sustainable ingredients.

• Seating Area: Comfortable and inclusive seating arrangements that encourage social interaction.

• Community Programs: Hosting events like book clubs, live music, or open mic nights to foster community engagement.
