Shoeless Joe Jackson Field Upgrades
Donation protected
My name is Joshua Barrow and I am a life scout in Troop 521 based out of St. Mary's Church in downtown Greenville, SC. I am planning my Eagle Scout project at Shoeless Joe Jackson baseball field. My project consists of four sub projects: add a drainage system to left field where it holds water, add bullpens for both sides, add a batting cage, and add a scoreboard. This is a historic field, where Shoeless Joe started his career, and is in an economically challenged area. I have always loved baseball and want to help other kids get the same fun out of the game by upgrading this field. This project will take much time, effort, and money so anything will be greatly appreciated.
**Update: Thank you to everyone that has contributed, shared, forwarded, etc!!! We have decided to reduce the scope of the project and not work on the new batting cage at this time. The priority was the Left Field Drainage and that is complete! See new pictures. The next step is to raise the $8K for the Bullpens - destruction, fencing and pitching mound, then the scoreboard - with room for a sponsor logo if anyone is interested :-).
