Shipibo Indiginous People (Jungles of Peru)
Donation protected
Just over a year ago I made a journey into the jungles of Peru. The weight of the world seemed to be consuming me. There was so much personal work that needed to be done. A friend had told me about an incredible tribe in the jungles of Peru known for healing. Many people had made this rigorous journey from all over the world to get peace. I had tried western medicine amongst other methods to heal and failed. It has been nearly 11 months since I returned from this journey. My life has been very clean and productive. Everyday I wake up I tell myself to achieve "greatness" and help others. Enough about me...
The Shipibo Indigenous people known for healing people with all kinds of illnesses, from depression, addiction,PTSD, cancer amongst others illnesses that plague our existence. Their world is very simple with very few resources. They are the "most" loving people I have ever known. Immediately upon my arrival they cared for me and helped me day and night without even knowing me. The children too are incredible. They don't have much which makes them clean of "material things" that tend to control our lives. They will chase a ball all day long if that's all they have. I see them pulling each other on a large rice sack using the rope draw string to pull each other. All of this with a smile!
On my visit I remembered feeling sorry at first for these people because they did not have anything. After nearly 2 weeks in the jungle, I realized that is what made them so great. Again, the things we own and strive to have can ruin us in tough times unless we are "humble" and do good for others. Since Covid-19, my 2nd family, the Shipibo's are desperately needing assistance and help. The very people who saved my life are sick with Covid-19. It's not just the adults but also the children. They are too proud to ask, so I am asking for consideration of a donation if you are able to contribute. It does not matter if it's five dollars or five hundred dollars. This money will go to medical needs, food and necessities. The donations will be transferred directly to Alberto Sinti Reategui. Alberto is a leader of his community and he will use these donations for Covid 19 Relief. The funds will go toward medical supplies, medicines, food and of course towards the water shortage their community is facing. All funds will go into Alberto's account and distributed to the Ship Indigenous people in the village of Ceilan (jungle).
I will never ask for help unless I am passionate about the cause. Usually, it is a cause that a friend would ask me to get behind and we begin working toward a goal. In this case, I am the friend asking my friends. I was going to begin to raise money to build a well for clean water for my friends. That is still something that needs to be done and we will get there soon but for now we just need to start providing. Thank-you and when this pandemic is over, I hope we can visit this incredible village together and do more good!
