Dolores (Dee) Gidney: Bridging Hope & Help in a Time of Need
Donation protected
Dear Friends and Family,
I'm reaching out to you with a heavy heart, but also with hope and determination. My mother, a remarkable woman of 89 years, has faced her share of challenges in recent years. After experiencing several strokes and being diagnosed with vascular dementia, she's been bravely navigating life in an assisted living facility. However, it's become increasingly clear that this environment is not the best fit for her needs.
My mother's story is one of love, service, and unwavering dedication. She and my father shared a bond that lasted nearly five decades until his passing in 2010. Together, they epitomized what it means to be great Christians and great parents, providing love, support, and guidance every step of the way.
But my mother's contributions extend far beyond our family. She has devoted her life to serving God and others, driven by her deep faith and compassionate spirit. From volunteering with The Academy of Medicine, Dentistry, and Pharmacy, to her involvement with The Tuesday Morning Study Group, and countless other organizations, she has left an indelible mark on her community.
Her talents were as diverse as they were remarkable. A trained pianist, she could effortlessly play by ear, using her musical gifts to uplift and inspire others in church settings and beyond. Her intelligence, wit, and incredible memory have always been a source of awe for those who know her.
Now, as her health needs evolve, my sister and I are committed to ensuring that she receives the care and support she deserves. We've found a new facility that offers not only a more aesthetically pleasing environment but also a larger professional staff, ongoing activities, and the resources she needs to thrive.
However, the costs associated with this transition are significant. That's why we're turning to you, our beloved community, for support. Your contributions will go directly towards covering the required fees for her relocation, but more importantly, they will enable us to hire an aide who can provide personalized care and assistance as she adjusts to her new surroundings.
Our mother has always been our guiding light, our North Star, and now it's our turn to be there for her when she needs us most. Together, let's ensure that her golden years are filled with love, comfort, and the dignity she deserves.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and support.
With love and gratitude,
Natalie
How money is being used:
$3000 - for one time new community fee
$2500 - for 6 hours/day for one month acclimation aide
$2000 -for attorney (approximation from attorney)
$2500 -one month of overlapping residences
The last amount is actually $6000 but any assistance is appreciated. As my mom acclimates to this new environment, my family and I will be there for her. However, our reality is that we work and for the first month, we'd like a personal aide to help her find her way around the community, participate in activities, develop a routine, and just the security of knowing someone is there to focus on HER.
