Dear Shimmerback fam, you know her, you love her, you've bounced and swayed across her creaky boards so many times. All that sashaying has taken its toll and now our beloved bridge is in need of a facelift... well, more like major reconstructive surgery.

While the bridge remains structurally sound, the decking and hanging cables have reached the end of their useful life and need to be replaced, and the main cables need to be sanded and painted. We're calling in support from the Shimmerback community to help cover an estimated $10k in material costs (work will be completed with volunteer labor).

For more details, please read on. The project has three major components:

1. Sanding and painting the pylons and main catenary cables for long-term maintenance.

2. Replacing all hanging cables and support beams.

3. Replacing existing plywood decking with pressure treated joists and composite planks.

We're reaching out to the Shimmerback community to help manifest the funds to undertake this critical infrastructure project. She's carried you safely across the creek over and over, it's time for us to show our bridge some love so she'll keep us aloft for years to come.
