Sherry 's story starts with helping those who cannot help themselves. She has been a tireless advocate for abused animals as long as anyone can remember. The first dog I had as an adult was given to me by Sherry. We were living together at the time and she came home with this little scrawny German Shepherd mix with one ear up and one down and said, "Look who I found at the pound." I was thrilled and a life was saved.
Sherry didn't stop saving lives there. She has worked constantly to save animals in OK by taking their shelter animals pics for the past 7 years and advocating for them through social media and fundraisers. She has never charged one single penny for this and has traveled long distances at her own expense to help animals in need. She has never said no when someone asks for help. Through her efforts many shelters in OK have seen a substantial decrease in euthanizations and a huge increase in adoptions. Her motto is "saving lives one photo at a time".
All this brings me to why I have set up this fundraiser for Sherry; she needs new eyes! Sherry recently had cataract surgery and the doctor really messed up and now she has a huge issue with her vision. Since she is a graphic designer by trade, this really affects her job as she cannot see the fine details and cannot spend lots of time on the computer due to eye strain which causes headaches and fatigue. She needs to get another surgery which her new doctor is hoping will remedy the situation but the lens she needs is not available in the US right now and at this point is not going to be available until after the first of the year. Therein lies the problem, Sherry will not have the same insurance because her current provider is pulling out of the Marketplace, so she will have to pay for this procedure herself.
I am asking for a goal of $10, 000 because I know that Sherry is probably behind on all her bills (and is too proud to tell anyone) from not being able to take as many jobs due to the eye problems she has been experiencing. I also know there will be a recovery time that she will not be able to work and she has some other medical issues that are coming to light right now. All of this money will go to help her make a difference in the future for others. Sherry would literally give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. Won't you help her?
