Shenifa's Childcare Project- Nepal

In April I will be volunteering in Kathmandu, Nepal, for three weeks alongside a group of volunteers from across the globe as part of a Childcare project.

The project aims to provide impoverished children with access to everyday amenities which at times we take for granted, such as sanitation services and formal primary education.

Nepal is the poorest country in South Asia and ranks as the twelfth poorest country in the world. There are approximately 5,000 street children in Nepal and around 4/5 of the working population live in rural areas with little or no access to primary health care, education or clean drinking water. This needs to change!

On this childcare project I will be working in childcare centers and orphanages located in different areas across Kathmandu. My focus will be on teaching children age  2-10 activities, such as painting, singing, and sports activities. In addition, I will work in a street school in central Kathmandu, where I can assist in the education and therapy treatments for children in poverty.

Please support me in changing the futures of young children in Nepal through the power of education. Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated and could make all the difference to these children's lives.
