Hi . My name is Rodney Montreuil, founder and executive director of the Haitian American Center for Social Economic Development (HACSED). I am here to call your attention on a crisis going on right now. We all remember the ugly pictures, just a couple of months ago, of Haitian refugees being mistreated and deprived of their dignity under the Del Rio Bridge in Texas. To day we're dealing with a sequel of our brothers and sisters dropped off the Sky Harbor Airport with minimal options. It was immediately brought to our attention, and we wasted no time in intervening in the best of our capacities. Since Friday, December 24, HACSED board members, community members, and concerned Haitians have been chipping in to find them shelters/hotels, food, clothes, and other necessities. The best thing we were able to do was to connect most of them with their families on the east coast and assist them in their traveling plan. Not all of them could afford that option, therefore they are still in our custody in the meantime. Our meager resources are depleting fast. We're calling on everyone's generosity to help us cover those costs and reunite our brothers and sisters with their families. Your contributions will be tax-deductible and managed with transparency and integrity.
