Shear MVMNT Indigenous Hair School Renovations
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My name is Thomasina, I am a Hairstylist and Educator in Vancouver and I have been working closely in partnership with SPARC BC, a tenured not for profit council, to carve out space for Indigenous Beauty, Wellness and Skills Training.
Our vision is to build inclusive space in the heart of Vancouver's Downtown Eastside for Shear MVMNT, an Indigenous-led, Indigenous-focused Cosmetology and wellness Centre for Indigenous Youth. Shear MVMNT will differ from traditional Cosmetology School by implementing health and wellness measures throughout the program.
In addition to educating youth, Shear MVMNT's mission is to service the residents of the area, and those who are in need, through our program, allowing them to get a haircut when needed, not necessarily only when its offered.
Unfortunately, the space that we have secured to host Shear MVMNT long-term, is in need of renovations to be able to train and take services safely, to the tune of $45,000. We have a plan of action, but it would be greatly appreciated if you can help with this as much as you can.
Much like Salons and Barbershops all over the world, Hair Salons and schools naturally provide inspired communal space to connect and engage with each other.
Please help us with the necessary renovations for Shear MVMNT, so that we can build communal and educational space for our Youth.
Thank you so much for reading this far, and if you cannot donate, please tell a friend. Great hair for everyone!
