I never imagined I’d be writing this.

Becky is my little sister. She’s the kind of person who brings warmth, laughter, and strength into every room she walks into.

Just a year ago, her life was full of excitement and plans for the future.

She had just got engaged.

She was planning her wedding.

She was working towards a promotion at work.

Everything she had worked so hard for was finally coming together.

Then everything changed.

Becky was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer — one of the most aggressive forms. Instead of celebrating her 32nd birthday, she was sitting in an oncologist’s office being told how they would begin the fight for her life.

From that moment, everything became hospital appointments, chemotherapy, surgery, and radiotherapy.

She went through a life-changing operation, yet somehow continued to show strength and courage every single day. Even when she was exhausted. Even when she was scared. She kept going.

But the part that’s hardest to put into words is what happened next.

While Becky was recovering from major surgery and trying to process everything she was facing - her fiancé left her. She suddenly found herself having to navigate the rest of this journey without the support she had once expected.

This also meant the loss of the family life she had built over many years, including the bond she shared with her partner’s son, whom she had helped raise and loved as her own for 13 years.

Just weeks after her surgery.

Just weeks after being told she needed further treatment.

In a matter of days, everything she thought was stable and certain shifted — at the exact moment she needed support, care, and reassurance the most, she had been left alone in the family home they once all shared.

No one should ever have to go through that.

No one should have to fight cancer and heartbreak at the same time.

And somehow… Becky still kept going.

She carried on with treatment. She faced every appointment. She kept fighting — even on the days it felt impossible.

Just as she began to find strength again and return to work, we were told the cancer had spread to her bones.

Becky is now living with stage 4 cancer.

Doctors are planning further aggressive treatment to try and control it, but her fight is far from over.

On top of everything, Becky receives no company sick pay, meaning every day she is unable to work brings financial pressure she should never have to face.

Right now, she is dealing with:

• A life-changing stage 4 diagnosis

• Ongoing treatment and uncertainty

• Emotional trauma from everything she has endured

• Loss of income at the time she needs stability most

And yet… she is still Becky.

Still strong. Still fighting. Still holding onto hope for a future she deserves.
