My name is Mohamed Alghali, and I am Rabbiatu’s son. I am creating this GoFundMe from the deepest place in my heart to support my mother during one of the hardest moments of her life. She has always been my strength, and now I am doing everything I can to be hers.
Rabbiatu Kuyateh, was unlawfully taken to Ghana after the United States granted her withholding of removal to Sierra Leone—a protection meant to keep her safe from the very country that persecuted her. Instead of honoring that protection, Ghanaian authorities violently forced her onto a plane to Sierra Leone under the Ghana–U.S. deportation transfer agreement, dragging and humiliating her in a way no human being should ever endure. The video of this incident has since gone viral, capturing the brutality she faced and the deep injustice committed against her.
Despite this trauma, Rabbiatu’s strength and character continue to shine. She has been a Licensed Practical Nurse for over 25 years and served on the front lines during the earliest and most dangerous days of COVID-19, even contracting the virus three times while caring for others. She has been a Maryland resident for over 30 years. She spent many years serving at the Hebrew Home of Greater Washington and Erickson Living’s Riderwood community, where families consistently praised her compassion, professionalism, and unwavering dedication. At home, she has long been the primary caretaker for both of her elderly, very sick parents who need daily assistance—responsibilities that now fall entirely on her son, Mohamed Alghali, as he struggles to keep the family afloat.
