Shawn Greenwalt

He
Hello, my name is Katie Bowman. I'm Shawn Greenwalt's aunt. I've come here to help my nephew during this difficult time in his life. Most of us know that life has ups and downs, and throughout life we have battles that strike us. The battles that really test who we are and shape us into who we become. Being so young we are still trying to figure ourselves. We simply prepare the best way we can, but this wasn't what any of us especially Shawn was ready for.

My nephew found out what his battle was and it's the fight for his life. He was diagnosed with (ALL) acute lymphoblastic Leukemia. We know it's cancer of the blood and is in his bone marrow. It's a very aggressive form and has already affected his groin, lower stomach, spleen and liver. He is currently at Northside at the blood and marrow transplant unit. He is at one of the best places to be, with the best doctors. He just started intensive chemo on Saturday 9/23. He will undergo heavy Chemo for the next month, we don't know exactly when he will be released. We do know this is going to be a rough year, and not knowing how his body will react to the chemo is terrifying.

Most, of you know Shawn and know how strong he is. He's the type of person who wouldn't think twice to give the shirt off his back. If you felt sad, he would go out of his way to make you laugh, even at the will of making fun of himself. He's full of personality, he does not lack in this area one bit!!! He's probably the funniest person I know!!! I couldn't be prouder of him. He married a beautiful woman (Hailey) I give her so much love and credit for not only dealing with him, but also being there 24/7.

These battles in life are never expected nor are we fully prepared for. Shawn and Hailey were simply planning a life and preparing for their futures. Shawn was in school, and Hailey was supporting his dreams. Both, not expecting this. They've been thrown for a loop, a loop that seems honestly unfair, and cruel. They are too young for this, these worries, and all I want to do is take all of this from them. His whole family does, His nana and dad have been nonstop from the beginning, honestly, we all have. The one thing about my family is we are here for Shawn and his fight and will be here till the day he is in remission!!! My family is strong, but my God is stronger.

We are asking for some help, anything is appreciated. His medical bills are already a lot, plus monthly finances are stacking up. The last thing both of them need to worry about is that. Hailey is with Shawn full time for his chemo and by his side nonstop. We know times are tough and like we said we appreciate it and the prayers as well!!!
