Help Support Daley and His Family

Hi, I’m Martin, and I’m raising funds to support a wonderful family and close friends of mine who are going through an incredibly tough time.

Daley’s Story

Daley is 12 years old and has been diagnosed with a Germ Cell Brain Tumour located in his pineal gland — right in the centre of his brain. It’s something he’s likely had since he was little, but it was always thought to be migraines until a recent eye test at Specsavers spotted something unusual and sent the family straight to hospital.

Because of where the tumour is, surgery isn’t an option, so Daley is now on a long and intense chemotherapy plan. Life has been completely turned upside down — the family are in and out of hospital constantly, taking turns staying with him for weeks at a time. It’s taken a huge emotional and financial toll.

Why I’m Getting Involved

Recently, Daley’s sister’s boyfriend and his mate both shaved their heads to raise money for The Brain Tumour Charity, raising an incredible £600! Now I’m joining the cause — this time, to raise funds directly to help the family while they focus on getting Daley through treatment.

I’ve known this family for years — mostly through rescuing them from DIY jobs they’ve “had a go at” and made worse — and I’m proud to be doing my bit to help them through this difficult time.

The Big Shave

On Friday, 31st October, I’ll be shaving off my hair and beard (see pics!) at The Albion, Dukinfield (SK16 4BZ).

Some say I’ve been hanging onto my hair for far too long — and they might be right! Just in case it doesn’t grow back, I’ll be keeping my tash for Movember, so I’ll be looking a bit of a Cnut for a good cause throughout November!

How You Can Help

Every penny raised will go directly to Daley’s family — helping with:

• Travel costs to and from hospital

• Time off work during treatment

• Food and accommodation during hospital stays

• All the small but constant expenses that add up

On the day of the fundraiser, there will be cash buckets floating about for all donations (without the fees).

There is also fancy dress on and the one and only Karl Magee, starting with games from 530pm onwards.

The shave will be live, the time will have to be a spooky surprise (because I don’t know it yet ) It will be confirmed on the day.
