Introducing the share the weight challenge has been a collaborative idea between ourselves and Neoperl of Malvern, we’re currently creating a route from Neoperl all the way to Malverns Beacon in support of Men’s mental health… too often men don’t feel like they have a safe place to talk about personal problems and can end up doing the unimaginable.
It comes nearly a year to the day since enduring one of the most difficult and tragic periods of time where my brother succumb to his mental illness, luckily I had family and friends ready and willing to support me every step of the way, many, many people don’t!
My brother would of benefited from services being placed for people who could of been seen closer to their first episode, 3 in 4 suicides are not by people with mental illness, so by supporting people who have poor mental health like anxiety and depression due to changing circumstances difficult to comprehend, which can happen to anybody… then we would go some way towards making powerful and ever changing circumstances for our male population in the UK.
Let’s not forget, lots of these men are Dads, Grandads, Brothers, Uncles, Cousins and I mention this only because it helps to realise that around 140 people are impacted by such an event.
Funding is our biggest challenge to sustainability and therefore we are looking to raise as much as money from our November 5th climb, we’re really hoping for some business sponsorship to give our mission some real hope.
Could you support the cause by lending your physical attributes and join us by carrying this heavy and quite frankly horribly sized container.
We hope to plan stop offs at certain businesses along the way to increase awareness of the challenge and provide updates on our progress.
Thanks for reading and please contact us if you can support us, or if it’s by sharing our story.
