Sharing the Cross 2022. St. Patricks, Newport, NH

"Sharing the Cross" is an event to raise funds for numerous non-profit organizations. Volunteers from St. Patricks Catholic Church in Newport, NH carry a large wooden cross for 10 miles along the Sugar River Trail from Claremont, NH, to Newport, NH, praying the "Stations of the Cross" along the route. The significance is twofold: we aspire to answer the call to "Carry our Cross" and--like Simon--to share the burdens of others, helping them to carry their cross.

In addition to the 10-mile walk along the Sugar River Trail, a more intensive 10-mile hike has been organized by one of our young Knights, Blaise O'Mara. This year, he will take the more ambitious participants on an adventurous hike up Mt. Moriah in the White Mountains of NH. They will also share the weight of a large wooden cross along the way for the same reasons explained above.

"Sharing the Cross" is done annually and is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, council 4983 of Newport, NH. Like in past years, all the money raised will go to non-profit organizations that need our help to "Feed the hungry and shelter the homeless," Organizations like Habitat for Humanity, Dayspring pregnancy center, Soup Kitchens, Food Pantries, Religious Vocations Assistance, and Heating Assistance, Scholarships, etc...

The 10-mile walk and hike are scheduled for October 1st, 2022. Some volunteers will walk all 10 miles, while others will do what they're capable of. All participants will share the load of carrying the cross.

Donations of any size are greatly appreciated. All the money raised will be redistributed into the community to help fill the needs of many individuals and the organizations that care for them.
