Aviation Needs More Diversity!

Donation protected

Aloha,

My name is Nobi Buntin and I’m a former schoolteacher turned Certified Flight Instructor. I’ve been fortunate enough to be the recipient of many scholarships throughout my career, and I know that without the generosity of others, I would not be the professional pilot that I am today. My goal is to give back and pay forward to the community that gave me so much. The goal of this fundraiser is to provide life-changing scholarships for aspiring, career-minded pilots.

Thank you for your time and consideration. We have accomplished so much, and it is because of your kindness and generosity that all of this is possible. Mahalo.

With warm regards,

Aloha Aviators

The Aloha Aviators are raising $50,000 to purchase and operate a share of a 1978 Cessna 182Q, a single-engine aircraft located at San Jose Airport (KSJC). The aircraft was recently assessed at $160,000.

Costs:
$40,000 for a quarter share of aircraft
$300/mon. expense (hangar, insurance, annual taxes, etc...)
$200/hour of flight time (maintenance and fuel)

Fundraising Goal $50,000

Since March 15, 2020, the Aloha Aviators have served the community by collecting donations and delivering essential supplies, medical supplies, school supplies, animal supplies, shelter pets, and Christmas presents to the neighboring Hawaiian Islands. These missions are flown in single-prop airplanes with cadets in the cockpit building real-world flight experience. The Aloha Aviators collaborate with various non-profit organizations including Pilots n Paws (animal rescue), Angel Flight (medical patient transportation), Turtles Fly Too (sea life conservation), and Flight for Life (blood and organ transport). Moving forward, Aloha Aviators aims to extend substantial scholarships to inspired and determined women with a passion for aviation.

“Nobi’s dedication to her community and ability to adapt are even more affirmations that we chose the right person to receive the King Schools / NAFI scholarship.” John King added, “It looks like Nobi is having fun. Nothing about what she is doing is ‘normal’ and that is why she is extraordinary. We look forward to seeing her do great things for many years to come.”

-Martha King, Co-Founder of King Schools

The Aloha Aviators was founded by Nobi Buntin and her son, Ryan. They enjoy sharing their passion for aviation. Nobi Buntin is featured in Jacqueline Cochran’s Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum exhibit, ‘Modern Pilots’. Nobi Buntin serves as Vice Governor of the Southwest Section of the Ninety-Nines and as chair of the AAUW Tweet Coleman Aviation Scholarship Committee. Nobi Buntin has been awarded a number of scholarships including the Amelia Earhart Memorial Scholarship, the King School Scholarship, and the Women in Aviation Scholarship.
