This is Sonny.

A few days ago, Sonny was badly injured in an attack by other dogs. What started as puncture wounds and damaged skin has turned into a much more serious injury. Some of the tissue on his leg became necrotic, and our veterinarian warned us that the damaged skin would eventually slough away.

Yesterday, things took a frightening turn. Sonny managed to get around his protective cone and lick at the injured area. When I checked on him, a large section of damaged tissue had come away, leaving an extremely deep open wound with bone exposed.

We immediately contacted the veterinarian and have been following their instructions. Sonny is on antibiotics and medication for pain and inflammation, and we're doing wound care and bandage changes every day while watching closely for infection and hoping his leg can heal.

But at this point, we don't know where this ends.

He may need additional veterinary treatment, wound debridement, repeated examinations, stronger medications, or possibly surgery. If the leg cannot be saved, amputation may ultimately become necessary.

And that's the part that scares me.

I'm not asking anyone to carry this whole burden for us. I know how expensive groceries, utilities, gas, and simply living have become, and I know a lot of people don't have extra money to give.

But this is where I am asking for something from everyone who sees this:

Sonny is still drinking.

He's still eating.

He's still fighting.

As long as he's willing to fight, I want to be able to fight for him too.
