ShareAid Geelong needs storage
Donation protected
ShareAid Geelong was created in 2023 to support a need in the Barwon region for medical equipment at no cost.
It is for anyone in the region to use for as long as they need the item.
The equipment is donated from various sources, We are now part of the Surfcoast Shire sustainability project as it was itentified to be of benefit to those wanting to upcycle quality equipment rather than put it in land fill.
We began in November 2023 with a shed full of equipment and it has proven to be a great resource for our region. We are currently using paid storage, supported gratefully by Shannon's Bridge. We have a team of volunteers and capacity to deliver large items free of charge. The only cost is the storage fee.
The group runs from facebook and now has 314 members and growing.
Some of the highlights have been supporting four families to get their loved one home for Christmas, and Easter. We have sent out beds and other items for families to keep their loved ones home for end of life. We were able to lend a wheelchair for a young amputee who had a holiday planned and was waiting for NDIS to fund one. Another young girl with a broken ankle was able to celebrate her birthday using a wheelchair. We have tapped into the refugee demographic and many OTs are sending people our way.
The feedback has been positive and supportive.
We need to fundraise for our storage fees.
Also, if you know of anyone happy to let us use their premises for stroage in the Barwon region - please let us know.
Shannon's Bridge is hosting this fundraiser for us and all donations will come to ShareAid
