Share Hope-Donate for Dan

In creating a GoFundMe page, it is my hope that we can provide Dan with some relief for miscellaneous expenses...personal expenses, medical expenses not covered by insurance, bucket list items, items to make his stay in the hospital more enjoyable, things to make these moments special for a man that has always made US feel special. So, for Dan, I want him to know he will not be alone..... "When you go through deep waters, I will be with you." Isaiah 43.2

During my visit last night to the hospital, I had the HONOR of following Dan down to radiation.  The nurse offered for us to follow the hospital bed down to oncology and radiation.  It was at that time, that I saw first hand, the impact that Dan has always been known to have throughout his life.  As we passed nurse's stations, nurse's held out their hands for a high five, Doctor's gave a big smile "Hey Dan!  How are you doing!" Transporters calling out "Hey!  How's it going?"  Hospital Staff "Hey there's the man of the hour!!  We've been waiting for you!"  It was like I was following a highly revered official motorcade- and I was the lucky one to be a passenger riding along .

That's Dan.  Dan has always been the man to make his rounds.  Chatting with people, getting to know strangers, finding out what YOU were about, taking an interest in other people's lives....even in the current state of hourly changes in his health, CT scans, radiation, pain meds, cancer progression, life-threatening conditions....Dan asks me "So what's going on with you?  How's the kids!?"

If you know Dan as well as I do, you're probably wondering the same thing that I am.  How can this be happening to HIM?  One of the most sincerest, most genuine, most giving, always happy and positive, just honorable and ALWAYS living his life with the  highest of integrity.  How can we be HERE? Stage 4 Metastatic Bladder Cancer.  Here speaking with Palliative Care instead of preventable care, talking about pain management instead of surgical options, No more talks about treatments to reduce the sizes of the tumors, and instead, talking about medicine to reduce the amount of pain he will feel- it seems so unfair and frankly, crippling.  I don't have an answer for you, but what I CAN say is if you ask Dan "What do we do?"  He'll answer... "Whatever it takes."
