Be a part of this initiative to secure food security in Guatemalan households! Women participating are part of Buena Semilla’s Women’s Circles, a local NGO (read more about our participatory approach here: https://buena-semilla.org/).
Funds gathered will be used to buy up to 500 chickens for 50 families in need of San Juan Ostuncalco, a Mayan Mam community. Each chicken costs 20 quetzales (around 3.50 CAD$), so our goal is to gather 10,000 quetzales (around 1700 CAD$)!
This project will enable families to either: * Raise the chickens to produce eggs (allowing a financial gain) * Raise the chickens to sell them later on (allowing a financial gain) * Cook the chicken in traditional ways to share a meal
Guatemala is home to some of the most vulnerable populations in the world. Maya communities in particular experience severe inequality, violence and poor health.
When you support us, our way to say thank you is by sharing the families’ local chicken recipe with you! Like that, you’ll be able to cook your own chicken at home in traditional Mayan Mam’s ways. We can guarantee it is absolutely delicious!
Please do not hesitate to give what you can or to share this campaign! This is a tangible way to support food security in vulnerable households of Guatemala.
Thank you so much!
