Shaping Haiti's Youth: Project "Chambellan"
Donation protected
As an organization, Shaping Haiti's Youth (SHY) prides itself on embracing various causes which reflect its Haitian roots. As part of our ongoing commitment to serve and help educate the young minds of Haiti, SHY was honored to support an incredible irrigation project out of the Southwestern Haitian peninsula, in the city of Jérémie.
Jérémie, the main city of the Department of the Grand'Anse, has about 31,000 inhabitants (census 2003) and is located in the southwest region of Haiti. Its population increased dramatically after the earthquake of January 12, 2010 in Haiti. This town bathed by the Grand'Anse River is renowned for its beaches, greenery and historic sites. It is nicknamed "The City of Poets".
Jérémie is served by a coasting port and an airport.
SHY yearns to provide a concrete solution to a long-standing problem in the area (but also, in Haiti as a whole), Agricultural Education. The education program will include the modernization of the existing classical school. Overall, the main objective of these collected funds will be to bankroll the excavation of a reservoir to make potable water available to the inhabitants of the area, along with providing water dedicated to irrigate local crops.
We urge YOU to tap into your generous genes, as this project is set to help educate, current and future generations, on matters of sustainability.
Your contribution is tax deductible.
THANK YOU!
