Police Officer Grant Tanner Murphy passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2022 at the age of 34, after dealing with complications from Cancer.
Officer Murphy was born in Gainesville, FL. and attended Buchholz High School in Gainesville, FL.
After high school he attended the Citadel Military College in South Carolina and later joined the United States Army.
He served two tours in Afghanistan as a Radar Operator and Weapons Specialist. He was honorably discharged after serving a period of four years in the Army.
After serving in the Army, he attended Santa Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL. where he was able to earn an A.A. in Criminal Justice.
On July 2017, he joined the J.S.O. and served as a Patrolman in Zone 3. He continued to be a member of Zone 3 until his passing.
Officer Murphy served nearly 5 years with this agency when he passed away.
He is survived by his wife (Shannon) of nearly two years of marriage and his nine month old son (Grantston).
The J.S.O. Honor Guard will be rendering honors and Chaplain Jarrell will be officiating the service.
