Shannon & Joey's Trip to Guatemala with GOD'S CHILD Project

I am excited to announce that in February 2025, Joey and I will be traveling to Guatemala with GOD'S CHILD Project. This non-profit organization is dedicated to providing education, healthcare, housing, and job creation programs to some of the world's poorest communities, with the goal of offering both help and hope. Guatemala is a place very close to my sister, brother-in-law, and his family. I have been looking forward to the year when I could join this team, and now that I have recently graduated and am still seeking full-time work, it seems my time has come. Joey has decided to join because he has always found meaning in giving back to his community; he is a former volunteer firefighter and currently volunteers at Phoenixville Area Community Services, helping to provide food for those in need.

We are excited to spread our personal hope, joy, and love. During our trip, we will be helping to build houses in the community, distributing food, and meeting the families and children supported by GCP at the Dreamer Center. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_CcTwTrFr_A) While we are eager to help those in need, we are even more excited about the opportunity to learn from the people of Guatemala. We believe that being open to new experiences and willing to learn from others is key to personal and spiritual growth, and we cannot wait to see what they have to teach us.

Joey and I are reaching out to ask for your help in covering some of the expenses for our trip. We plan to contribute our own money as well, but we would greatly appreciate the support of our friends and family to help make this amazing opportunity a reality. The total cost for the trip is roughly $2,000 to $2,500 for each of us. This funding will cover our airfare, travel to and from the airport, the GCP volunteer fee—which helps pay the host families we will stay with—and building supplies for the homes we will construct while we are there.
