Hi I am Shannon and I am just 15 years old!
In summer 2020 I will be participating in the Camps International Expedition to Costa Rica, joining them to help make a difference to some of the world's most vulnerable communities whilst having learning and having fun doing it.
I will be in Costa Rica for 4 weeks (eeeeek away from my family!) and will be working on community projects such as building classrooms to improve education, installing clean water supplies, building homes for vulnerable families, building toilet blocks and classrooms and this is just the start!
I can't wait to meet some of the families, learn Spanish and to learn how to cook Costa Rican food!
I know that this is a lot of money but the opportunity and experiences will have such an impact on my life.
As some of you know I am no stranger to fundraising as I 2 years ago! (you can click the link to see for yourself!)
I already have a fundraising plan mapped out and I am also hoping that some events will be joint events where I help other charities with my fundraising too! I will update this further as events are organised. I am also hoping to get a part time job to help fund the trip, but as I am only 15 I am currently struggling to find a job!
I am also looking for people/businesses who would like to buy advertising space on my t-shirts which will be worn in all publicity and fundraising events.
I will be going with a small group of students from my school, Cardinal Griffin Catholic College in Cannock. The cost of the trip is £4350. This is not only my travel expenses, food and accommodation but also for project materials we will be using. Materials are sourced in Costa Rica.
Camps International are an ethical company, dedicated to bringing about positive change by organising social and environmental project work in areas of both economic need and ecological significance.
The opportunity to volunteer and live amongst a rural community and helping local adults and children improve their quality of life in a sustainable way appeals to me as I look to make a difference in the world, even if it is only small.
During this expedition my core tasks are to participate in projects which raise the educational and living standards of a deprived community as well as assisting with environmental conservation programs.
Please can you give consideration to sponsoring me, any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
