SGDI Serves: The Masjids

As-Salamu Alaikum, greetings SGDI Family,
We pray you are all well and safe. In the spirit of Ramadan, we are honored to announce that SGDI Serves is embarking on its 11th overall initiative, continuing the tradition of our 6th Annual Ramadan Service Campaign.
For the second consecutive year, we are serving right here at home in the United States, supporting our local masjids and the families within our community.
Alhamdulillah, this year we aim to assist at least 200 individuals by providing fresh produce, non-perishable food, and essential household goods to families during this blessed month of Ramadan.
Before going any further, we sincerely thank you for your unwavering support throughout the years.

(Because of You)

2017: We hosted our first fundraiser, Kicking for a Cause, with all tournament proceeds benefiting the Feed the Children Foundation.

2019: We awarded $3,000 in scholarships to elementary, middle, and high school students.

2021: We provided food assistance to 250 families in N’gaye Meckhe Village,
Senegal.

2022: We stocked and served five homeless shelters across the East Coast.

2023: • We supported 300 children across five Arabic boarding schools in Senegal (N’gaye Meckhe, N’der, N’der Wolof, Getty, and N’dankhe)
• We awarded $7,000 in scholarships to middle school, high school, and college students.

2024: We nourished 250 families in Tampoto Village, Foni Bintang Karanai, The Gambia.

2025:• We served 100 families at the Southwest Family Center.
• We partnered with TMGM to provide book-bags to over 200 children.

Each year, you’ve helped us turn intention into impact.

Why This Initiative?
This year’s Ramadan Initiative is centered on relief, dignity, and community responsibility.
Within the West African communities of our city, many single mothers and fathers are raising children while navigating the challenges of starting over in a new country. For these families, accessing basic necessities week to week can be overwhelming, especially during Ramadan. While we fast by choice from dawn to dusk, many of our neighbors face food insecurity and financial strain that extends far beyond fasting hours. That reality calls us to action. At SGDI Serves, we believe service is not seasonal, it is a responsibility. Ramadan reminds us that faith must be demonstrated through compassion and action. This initiative is about easing burdens, restoring dignity, and allowing families to experience this blessed month with greater peace and stability as our Holy Book instructs us. “And cooperate in righteousness and piety.” (Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:2)
Our Mission & Vision
SGDI Serves exists to uplift communities through the help of Allah. We are committed to: Supporting children through scholarships and mentorship

Providing essential services to families in need

Serving the underserved in both the U.S. and West Africa

Through every initiative, our goal remains the same: to make a lasting difference, one life at a time.

How This Initiative Will Work
SGDI Serves will coordinate planning, promotion, fundraising, purchasing, and volunteer organization.

On distribution days, tables will be set up outside participating Masjids.

Volunteers will assist with organizing and preparing goods for families.

An assembly-line system will ensure an efficient, organized, and respectful distribution process.

The first 100 individuals at each location will receive prepared bags and be free to go.
This structure allows us to serve efficiently while maintaining dignity and care for every family we encounter.

Fundraising Goal
Our initial goal is $1,500.
However, with multiple masjids in surrounding areas and increasing need, reaching $5,000 would significantly expand our impact.
If we surpass our goal, we have transportation readily available to deliver supplies to additional local masjids and serve even more families across our community.
The more we raise, the more we can serve.
Items We Will Provide
✅ Fresh fruits (oranges, apples, grapes, bananas)
✅ Fresh vegetables (carrots, tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce)
✅ Bread
✅ Tomato paste
✅ Dry pasta
✅ Canned beans & tuna
✅ Sugar & flour
✅ Cereal
✅ Peanut butter
✅ Feminine hygiene products
✅ Diapers
✅ Socks & gloves
✅ Bar soap
✅ Personal hygiene products
✅ Toilet tissue
These essential items are designed to support both food stability and everyday household needs.

(Important Dates)
Shopping Days:

Distribution Days:

Your generosity during this sacred month does more than provide groceries, it provides relief, stability, and hope.
Let us unite in compassion and service once again.
May Allah reward all of us for our efforts. Ameen.
With love,
SGDI Serves Management
