As-Salamu Alaikum, greetings SGDI Family!
We hope you are all well and safe. In the spirit of Ramadan, we are delighted to announce that SGDI Serves is embarking on its 6th project, and we hope to make another impactful difference with your help. This time, we’re staying here at home in the States to assist our neighbors in the community!
Alhamdulillah, this time around, we plan to assist at least 100 individuals by providing them fresh produce, non-perishable food, soap, gloves, socks, diapers, feminine/personal hygiene products, and more.
Before going any further, we re-extend our sincere gratitude for your unwavering support throughout the years in our previous SGDI Serves initiatives. With your assistance in 2021, we provided sustenance to 250 families in N’gaye Meckhe village, Senegal. In 2022, we stocked and served five homeless shelters on the East Coast. In 2023, we aided 300 children across five Arabic boarding schools in Senegal—N’gaye Meckhe, N’der, N’der Wolof, Getty, and N’dankhe. That same year, we awarded $7,000 in scholarship money to middle school, high school, and college students. In 2024, we nourished 250 families in Tampoto Village, Foni Bintang Karanai, The Gambia, by providing essential food supplies.
Why This Initiative?
Our objective in assisting the SW Family Services Center stems from our drive to support the influx of new arrivals to America over the past year who struggle to access basic necessities and the single mothers raising the next generation in similar predicaments. Each week, the SW Family Services Center opens its doors to provide such aid and it’s our turn to pitch in. With Ramadan here, we Muslims experience hours without food—but knowing that our neighbors are enduring days or even weeks without food and not knowing when their fast will break is simply not how we show our commitment to our neighbors. This harsh reality affects many of those supported by the SW Family Services Center, and as such, SGDI Family, we know we can make a meaningful difference and help these families experience this season of giving peacefully.
Let’s come together as we always do and support our neighbors. This initiative cannot happen without the support of our dear community.
About the Southwest Family Services Center
For those unfamiliar, the Southwest Family Services Center is a part of a larger network that has served the region since 1797. Over the years, they have served a host of programming that has benefitted 175,000 individuals each year. As our team recognizes and applauds their work, we join them in our shared goal of supporting our blended communities in need.
“And cooperate in righteousness and piety.” (Surah Al-Ma’idah 5:2)

Our work extends beyond borders, delivering essential services to those in need both in the U.S. and West Africa. Through every initiative, we remain committed to making a lasting difference—one life at a time.
How Will This Collaboration Work?
• Southwest Family Services Center will provide their venue for two days—one for packaging and one for distribution.
• They will also have volunteers on hand to assist and will be responsible for ensuring 100 attendees show up.
• SGDI Serves will create the flyer, handle promotions, raise funds, purchase supplies, and organize volunteers for both packaging and distribution days.
