Our goal is to help our trekking guides, porters and their families during the Corona Virus crisis. To that end we will organize an effort to clean up the local communities and hiking trails leading to Everest Base Camp.
Our goal is to work with our guides in the Everest Region to organize a cleanup of the local communities and trail up to Everest Base Camp once it is safe to proceed. This effort will provide a basic income to our guides, porters and their families while at the same time cleaning up and improving the local communities.
We are in a strong position to organize this with over 20 of our top guides living in the Everest Region. We jumped into support the people of Nepal during the earthquake in 2015 and were able to raise enough money to distribute over 6000 Kg of rice to more than 200 families (Read the story here ). One lesson learned from that experience is that our local network proved invaluable to actually get the relief work done and make a difference.
During this time, we would like to support our local team in any way possible, and any donation for our guides and staff you can give during this outbreak will be greatly appreciated.
How This Campaign is Managed
All of the funds raised will go directly to help the people of Nepal. To that end, our team is working closely with the New Reach Foundation (a registered charity) and will be collaborating in our efforts. All the funds collected from this campaign will be given to New Reach who will then transfer the money to Nepal. Our team in Nepal will organize the ground efforts and the clean up project. As our efforts get underway we will be posting updates to our blogs and social media highlighting the people involved and the work being done on the mountain.

Our head guides, in coordination with our team, will be putting together a plan for the distribution of funds and for the clean-up efforts. Any fees that are associated with the fundraiser will be paid by Himalayanwonders so that our team in Nepal will get the entire amount that is raised.
As our efforts get underway we will be posting updates to our blogs and social media highlighting the people involved and the work being done on the mountain.
