I am fundraising for Layla, a selfless community organizer and personal friend, who is in dire need of funds for relocation and general relief. Layla is a disabled single mother of two children currently living in Golders Green, North London. She has had a housing case open for about 21 months after three eviction notices (two were dismissed by the court, the third went through). During this time, the landlords have refused to make necessary fixes to the property, and her housing officers assigned by the council have failed to find her new housing. She is on UC/PIP, but is in desperate need of funds to support herself and her children, who she was left alone with after the father of her youngest child passed away around six years ago from a brain tumor. To this day, Layla suffers from severe panic attacks resulting in frequent hospital visits.

Layla, as an Arab woman with a Palestinian child, has faced repeated harassment from local residents in Golders Green while wearing a keffiyeh. On 27 June, she was screamed at from a car while chatting with another mother after a school drop-off. She was later followed by a man who hurled insults at her, leading her to seek refuge at a dry-cleaners, where an employee called the police on her behalf. The police, however, took the side of the aggressor. Layla now faces a court hearing in mid-November 2025 regarding the instance of harassment, where she is being treated as an offender.
