Rio's Opening Act
Donation protected
In honor of the birth of our first-born son, Rio Garson, and in lieu of a baby registry, we're accepting contributions to our foundation that supports women in poverty. Rio's first mark on the world will transform the lives of others. Who could think of a better opening act? May his life continue to be a blessing to the world, leaving it in a better place because he existed.
The Seven Bar Foundation has empowered over 20,000 women out of poverty and into business via microfinance. Microfinance is a self-sustaining solution that gives disadvantaged women access to power. It starts with a small loan, enabling an underprivileged woman to start and/or grow her own business. In turn, she becomes self-sufficient, breaking the cycle of poverty for her children, family and community. Once she repays her loan, that money is then lent to another woman and she qualifies for a larger loan size. The loop continues, amplifying the impact and changing the world.
The Garson family's goal is to raise $20,000 in Rio's honor. Reaching this goal will empower 1,000 women and children out of destitution and into business, breaking the cycle of poverty for generations.
