Support our new group for parents & carers

Saffron Walden Mencap Society is a small local charity providing activities and clubs for local adults and young people with learning disabilities . We strive to offer a variety of activities events and clubs, enabling our members to form and maintain friendships and have a choice in how to spend their time.

We have identified a need for a new support group and network for parents and guardians of our members, who either are living at home with them, or else living in a variety of settings locally. Having an adult family member with learning disabilities and/or autism has a unique set of challenges. Mutual support, together with the sharing of lived experiences is something which we wish to facilitate in the form of a relaxed social group. This in turn will enable us to provide advice where needed by including professional expertise on subjects which arise as common issues.

Setting up costs, including IT equipment, is something we at Saffron walden Mencap Society hope you might be able to help with towards this much needed group.
