As you may know, my name is May Weston. I am raising money to volunteer with the GIVE foundation in Costa Rica this summer. During this trip, I will work on sustainable farming projects aimed at improving soil regeneration and providing more nutritious food to rural communities. I will also be teaching English to children in Gandoca, a town where resources for learning are limited despite the large number of English-speaking tourists. This opportunity will allow me to immerse myself in the culture, strengthen my Spanish, and help these communities in ways that will have a lasting impact.
The people of Gandoca and the surrounding areas face numerous challenges, from limited access to educational resources to difficulties in sustaining local food systems. Through my work, I hope to make a tangible difference by helping to regenerate the soil and improve food security, while also empowering children by providing them with the opportunity to learn English—skills that can open doors to new opportunities.
While I am deeply excited for the chance to practice my Spanish, this trip is about more than just my personal growth. It’s about giving back to communities that are striving to overcome these challenges, and by staying with local families, I will be able to learn from them while contributing to their future success. This experience will not only benefit the community in Costa Rica, but it will also shape my ability to connect with Spanish-speaking patients in the future, ensuring I can serve them with the care and respect they deserve.
The trip is in July, and I need to raise the funds before then. Your support will help cover my travel, accommodations, and the materials needed to carry out the community projects. Any donation, no matter how small, will directly contribute to improving the lives of the people in Costa Rica. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story and for considering supporting this meaningful journey!
