I am currently serving in the United States Air force in Tucson, AZ. I was working away from home in San Diego, Ca and my pregnant wife and young daughter under the age of 2 were visiting family in east Los Angeles, Ca. During her visit she called me from the emergency room stating she was going into labor. I immediately left from San Diego to her in East LA. Within 45 minutes of my arrival our son (Odin) was born at only 27 weeks and 5 days. With him coming so early and unexpectedly he is currently in an incubator and will be in the NICU for 8-12 weeks in southern California.
We have decided it would be best for me to return to Arizona and work during the week and travel back to California on the weekends to see my children and wife. This way I can save as much of my time off as we can until we can bring our bundle of joy back home to Arizona. As I do not have enough time off cover his whole stay in the NICU and would be more beneficial once we all return home as a now larger family.
We are asking for donations to assist with my travels, and possibly even get a couple plane tickets (as it is a 7 hour drive each way costing even more precious time during these trying and scary times for our little growing family). Along with hoping to cover some of the financial hardships of my wife staying away from home for this extended period of time.
Being able to travel by plane instead of driving each way will provide us with so much more precious time boosting our morale and strength for our little fighter. I will also be able to use less of my time off to enjoy us as a family together once he is release from the NICU. It will mean to word to us to be in California as much as possible to be there for my emotionally strained wife and very confused daughter. Thank you all in advance for the support and love we’ve received.
