Service for the homeless soon to be homeless!

The Outpost Inc. provides - without question - a warm meal, access to clothing and personal hygiene items, food for pets of the homeless, and service to anyone who is experiencing food insecurity 365 days a year! It's the only organisation around town of its kind working nights and public holidays!

There are no referrals to access The Outpost – people can just turn up. Whoever presents for a meal we serve (no referrals or administrative hoops to jump through to get a cuppa).

For the last year, The Outpost has been dealing with an additional challenge – finding a new home to deliver our service from, and time is running out!

We remain committed that our service is needed in the CBD of Geelong, however, changes related to our current location mean we must find a new home and we too are about to be homeless!

We have been working with our landlord, other charities and businesses and, to date have been unable to find a place that meets our needs that will allow us to stay in the central CBD location accessible through public transport - where our clients need us to be!

With potential location options fast running out, we need your help to now fundraise the $40k to lease a new commercial venue! That $40k will cover the rental costs only - not to mention the cost of over 10,000 meals, and keeping the heater on! Failure to find a new home is just not an option for us... people need to be fed - no one should go hungry.

Issues driving this need include domestic violence, mental illness, family breakdown, drug and alcohol addiction and the lack of affordable housing:

The Outpost feeds between 20 to 50 mouths every single day of the year... - and that number is sadly increasing...

We are managed a volunteer Committee of Management and staffed exclusively by volunteers (meaning no donated money goes to administration or staffing costs). It is run on a shoestring budget relying on individual and business generosity and support through donations.

We know there are limited options if you need help in the evenings and especially on the weekends – but hunger doesn’t know what time it is.”
