Serve 'Solidarity in Action', Trip to Zambia.

Hi, my name is Ciara. I am a second-year student at the University of Galway studying Law, Sociology and Politics. This year I will be volunteering with SERVE.

SERVE is a Cork based development and volunteering organisation, committed to tackling the root causes of poverty in the Global South, to achieve justice, equality, sustainable development, and opportunities for all. Since 2003 SERVE has worked to improve
the lives and livelihoods of vulnerable people in Southern Africa, India, and South
East Asia. SERVE works in partnership with local organisations to provide education and training for people in marginalised communities, specifically children, young people, and women.

This year SERVE is sending volunteers to Zambia, Mozambique, and India. I am lucky enough to be able to travel to Zambia in July, where I will be providing educational and vocational skills to young people in the Mazabuka area. We will be working with the Flamboyant Special School, St Patrick's Secondary and Luyabalola Primary School, and the Assumption Parish Youth Centre.

I am fundraising €3500 to cover flights and insurance, and to help fund the overseas development work in Zambia. I have always been passionate about equality and human rights, and I am extremely excited about this opportunity to help those who are vulnerable and born into a less fortunate position than myself.
