Senior Design Trip to Madagascar

Hello Everyone,

In September I selected my senior design project. For my project I decided to work alongside a company called BeLocal. BeLocal is an organization working in Madagascar to "Empower people in Madagascar to solve their every day challenges and allow them to create an environment where they can thrive not just survive." Below I have attached a link to the website to give you a better idea of some of the work that they do in Madagascar. BeLocal assigned myself and three other members the task of building a lightweight emergency bridge that would allow villagers to cross the numerous rivers and streams during the flooding season. Since the area in which we are working is very poor we had to make the bridge primarily out of bamboo, a natural resource. As project manager, I helped guide my group through the design process, set up meetings with various faculty and members of BeLocal as well as kept our team on schedule. I am humbled to announce that out of the numerous teams working with BeLocal from the Civil, Mechanical, Electrical and Chemical Engineering Departments my project has been selected to be piloted in Madagascar. Not only was my project selected but I was one of four students selected to go to Madagascar to build my bridge and help with other projects currently underway. I truly believe that trip will be a great way for me to start my career with the right mindset. I initially picked the project because I believed I could use my education to give back to others who need help bettering their lives. Now, as the semester ends and graduation approaches, I am excited to think that all my work will become a reality. My goal is to raise $2,000 to cover the cost of airfare,  vaccines and medication, a visa, and any other travel expenses.  Any donation would be greatly appreciated and if you have any questions please feel free to contact me through gofundme or if you have my number call me at anytime. Once again, the link to BeLocal's website is below.
Thank You,
Sean Peters
