Sending Love and Support to Carly and Stephen

It is with hopeful hearts that this reaches all the people who love and care about Carly and Stephen.

Carly had a strong maternal hunch and knew to trust her instinct, with Stephen’s worry as well, it led them to the ER at UC Davis on Wednesday March 13th. They were admitted and haven’t left yet.

An EEG confirmed Calyx is experiencing infantile spasms and tonic seizures. An MRI confirmed he has Optic Nerve Hypoplasia. Fortunately meds have reduced his seizures drastically. While he is still having 10-15 seizures a day, they are lasting less than 5 seconds which is good news.

The team at UC Davis is leaving no symptom unchecked. We received the wonderful news that he can hear and his heart is strong!

A swallow test did conclude that he is aspirating every time he swallows. This is a life threatening issue and on March 20th they put in an NG Tube.

Obviously we do not know how long of a hospital stay it will take to keep Calyx on the right track. There will be many follow up appts with various specialists when they do leave as well.

It’s so hard being so far from our baby sister in this trying time. We are doing all we can to show her our support and love. Lynds is forever grateful for her village allowing her to be with Carly as much as possible for someone with 3 kids, a job, and who lives hours away in a place where snow is measured in feet not inches.

We are reaching out for help. We need your prayers and your thoughts and well wishes and your financial support if you are able. We want to help reduce the burden for Carly and Stephen during their time of need. Carly who literally went through the process of donating her bone marrow to a complete stranger because she was a match and gave her the opportunity to save a life. She most certainly has some good karma coming her way. So please help us show little Calyx that he is loved beyond measure and all his parents have to worry about is loving on him.
