Hello Everyone,
My name is Genet Downen. I came to the US through adoption from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I've the most loving parents that I could ask for. While I was in the Orphange it was my darkest season of my life. Through the darkest, devastating, & scary moment there was Hope. The Lord was faithful enough to send my little brother & I hope through my American parents. To give us a bright future as well as a second chance of what life should be as little kids.
When I was in the orphange, there was another orphange called Ahope that was corresponded along with the orphange (AAI) that I grew up in. Ahope is a local organization that runs children's homes & community outreach programs in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ahope cares for over 250 orphaned and vulnerable children who themselves are HIV positive.
Ahope is the only orphange in Ethiopia that solely cares for HIV+ children. Ahope has a dedicated staff who care for HIV+ children living in community based group homes, independent living apartments and their children's home.
Ahope holds a special place in my heart. I'll be heading to Ethiopia in August. I'm and have been collecting kids clothes & shoes that are in a good conditions from infants-14 years old as well as personal cares. The money that you'll be donating will be used to pay for the lugges which cost $200 per luggage. On the other hand, I would like to celebrate the Ethiopian New Year with these precious kids, I'm planning to have a special dinner for that day. The rest of the money will be dierecrly donated for Ahope.
Will be taking pictures and videos when I do the donations so y'll will be getting all the updates.
These kids do deserve your love, generosity, and kindness. They do deserve to see the hope and the bright future that's ahead of them . I'm praying that you'll be willing to send Hope for Ahope.
