Every year my family donate our ‘Christmas card money’ to a charity called ‘Grassroots’. We sponsor a child in Zambia called Alphonce Japhet. We shall continue to do so as it’s wonderful to see him thrive with the type of education our KingEdwinners receive every day.
This year, in addition to our annual support for Alphonce, we are going to donate towards two very special causes close to our hearts . Maybe we can encourage you to join us and offer your support too?
Sadly, cancer has had a significant impact upon our KingEdwinner community in recent times ; more so than I’ve ever experienced in 25 years of teaching.
We have lost several amazing friends as this awful disease continues to touch many more lives within our community . We are very well aware that several KingEdwinner staff, parents and children are significantly impacted at the moment whether it be mourning the loss of loved ones or facing this illness head on.
We truly hope that our small donations can offer some form of comfort this Christmas and at the very least , show how much we all truly care.
Donations received will be shared equally with MacMillan Cancer Care - a charity supporting several of our close KingEdwinners during this extremely difficult period. Our second charitable recipient will be our anwesome and very brave little KingEdwinner Tymek .
This summer, Tymek and his family's world came to a halt. He received an unexpected diagnosis: rhabdomyosarcoma – a malignant soft tissue tumor.
He is currently facing a long battle against this disease and we are so very proud of him. He’s a true KingEdwinners in so many ways and if anyone can beat this disease it’s Tymek! He’s a remarkable young person, he truly is!
Every day brings pain, fear, but also hope. Tymek is an incredibly brave boy. He loves dinosaurs, dreams of becoming a paleontologist, and endures every IV, medication, and long days in the hospital with determination. He shows all of our High 5 values in abundance… a top KingEdwinner!
We see Tymek occasionally between his treatments and the children miss their friend so much. We can’t wait to get him back full time at KEPS as it’s not the same without him.
Every donation counts. Every share increases the chance of help.
Every small act of kindness will touch those impacted by cancer this Christmas . We feel that our KingEdwinner community can be of great support to those affected ; offering hope , love and kindness during the festive period.
Please , regardless of any donation, feel free to join me in wishing Tymek, his family, and everyone touched by cancer at KEPS this year ‘a very special Christmas filled with hope and joy’.
Thank you and Merry Christmas everyone x
