As many friends may know, I was fortunate enough to visit Africa in October 2022, an experience that left a lasting impact on me. Meeting people who, despite having so few material possessions, were filled with immense joy and positivity was truly humbling. I witnessed firsthand how these incredible individuals made the most of what they had and found happiness in the simplest things. I am forever grateful for the warmth, hospitality, and kindness shown to me by the people I met, and I hope to return to this beautiful continent one day. I left with a deeper appreciation for the strength of the human spirit and a renewed commitment to support those in need.
However, I continue to struggle with reconciling the incredible beauty of the people I met with the hardships they face. Despite their resilience and joy, many are financially and sometimes physically struggling to meet basic needs. For a long time, I felt powerless to make a meaningful impact… until recently.
A few years ago, I had the privilege of connecting with a fellow artist, Joseph, through social media. Joseph, who shares a passion for art and community service, has dedicated his life to supporting 80 underprivileged children in his childhood village of Lusaze, Uganda—whom he lovingly calls his "LifeNinjas." Despite his own financial limitations, Joseph travels hours each week from Kampala to bring supplies, teach art skills, fundraise for school tuition and materials, and provide hope for these children’s futures. His dream is to secure education for each of them, recognizing it as a transformative tool for breaking the cycle of poverty.
Inspired by Joseph's selflessness, I’m determined to support his mission. Over the past several years, with the support of an amazing community, we’ve managed to send clothing, toys, art supplies, cover medical expenses, and organize art shows, birthday celebrations, and even a holiday party last year. My goal now is to make this holiday season another memorable one for the LifeNinjas and their families. With your help, we can provide Christmas gifts and a holiday meal to wrap up their year in a truly special way.
I am donating 5% of my art sales to the LifeNinjas to support their educational and well-being needs, and I hope you’ll join me in lifting Joseph's mission. Whether through donations, sharing his story, or simply following along, I invite you to be part of this incredible journey to make a difference in these children’s lives. Together, we can bring them joy, hope, and new opportunities. ✨
