We are a group of Indigenous women hand drum singers from Gaa-Miskwaabikaang (Red Cliff, Wisconsin) and the surrounding area. We believe in healing through drum and song. We sing for the healing of ourselves, our families, and our communities.

Wiikweyaang Nagamo Ikwewag (“women singing from the bay”) was formed in Spring 2025 after a hand drum making workshop at the Ginanda Gikendaasomin (“We seek to learn”) Red Cliff Tribal Library. Several women expressed interest in coming together to sing on a regular basis, and we hit the ground running!

We have been invited to sing at the Many Winters Gathering of Elders in San Pedro, California, October 9-12, 2025, and are raising funds for 14 women to travel and sing together! We have also been invited to play for folks at a local Native American residential treatment center, perform ant the renowned Idyllwild Arts Academy, and participate in a full moon ceremony at the Pacific Ocean.

Our goal is to raise $12,000 through donations and fundraising events to cover travel costs for our group. Funds raised will cover airfare, luggage costs, ground transportation, lodging, and food for 14 women to travel and sing at the gathering. We are also hosting multiple food sales and fundraising events at Red Cliff. We will keep everyone updated on our events and progress.

Goal 1 - raise $4,000 by August 22. This will cover the airfare and luggage costs for 14 Sun Country tickets from Minneapolis to Los Angeles. This is an ambitious goal, but purchasing tickets sooner is cheaper.

Goal 2 - reach $8,000 by September 12. This will cover deposits for our Airbnb, vans to travel to and from the Minneapolis airport from Red Cliff, and a 15-passenger van to get around California.

Goal 3 - reach $12,000 by October 3. These funds will cover gas, groceries, and food. It will also cover the remaining costs of lodging and vans.

Stretch Goal - $18,000 by October 8.
Miigwech! We raised enough funds to cover our costs, and are now able to bring four additional members with us (18 total). We also covered hotel rooms in Minneapolis the evening before our flight, and for hotels near Sequoia for one night. Remaining donations will cover food and incidentals.

We appreciate your support and will keep you updated on our progress and share photos and experiences from our adventure! We will add fundraising funds and offline donations here to track our progress. Please share with anyone who might want to be a part of our journey and story. Thank you for considering!
