Velas, Sao Jorge, Azores, Portugal and Watsonville, California, United States formed a sister city relationship in 2022.

The Velas and Watsonville sister city committee will be sending one of our 2025/26 Queens in July to represent Watsonville at the Semana Cultural das Velas in São Jorge, Azores.

We are excited to be sending our queen to represent our city and our culture. There is so much pride in the Portuguese community and the City of Watsonville! We hope you can help us send our queen to shine bright for all of us!
